Practice areas
At Freeman Law, we provide the following legal services.
Credit Reporting Errors
A study by the Federal Trade Commission found that approximately one in four people have an error on their credit report significant enough to impact their credit score. These errors can arise from identity theft, erorrs by your creditor reporting information about you, or negligence by the credit bureaus. You deserve to only have accurate information reported about you on your credit report. If you have an error on your report, we will help you try to resolve the problem, from the beginning of the dispute process through the filing of a lawsuit (if necessary). And, we will evaluate your situation at no cost to you.
Creditor/Debt Collector Harassment
Do you dread getting calls from your creditors and checking your voicemail for robocalls? Are collection letters filling up your mailbox? Most people don't know that they have important protections and rights to protect them from collection harassment. Give us a call, and we will be able to analyze your situation, and let you know if your rights are being violated. And we will look at your situation free of charge.
Bankruptcy
Nobody wants to file bankruptcy. But, sometimes, it is a last--and best-- resort for people in bad situations. Oftentimes bankruptcies result from medical emergencies, loss of job, or other tragic circumstances. And, other times, debt can spiral out of control, and leave you feeling like there is nowhere to turn. We will evaluate your situation, and let you know if bankruptcy makes sense for you. Let us try to help you get a fresh start, so you can breathe again.
Defense of Collection Lawsuits
Are you being sued? Are you unsure of how to respond? A civil lawsuit can be a confusing and complicated process. Whether you are being sued in Magisterial District Court or the Court of Common Pleas, we can help you. We have represented hundreds of consumers in these types of lawsuits, and we know how to get positive results for our clients. You will not regret hiring us to represent you in your case.
General Litigation
We have years of experience litigating matters in both federal and state courts. No matter the subject matter of your lawsuit, we can help you pursue your claim or protect your rights. And, if for some reason your case is not one that we can handle, we will refer you to another lawyer who can help.

Brett Freeman
Attorney
Attorney Brett Freeman has devoted his career to helping those who are having financial difficulties, and to making sure that those individuals are treated fairly by a system which sometimes seems rigged against them. One of the biggest disadvantages that consumers face when trying to defend their rights under consumer protection statutes is the daunting experience of facing the lawyers who represent large banks and other corporations. Brett is thrilled to be part of a law firm that can help even this otherwise unlevel playing field and provide consumers with a fair process to vindicate their rights. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Brett attended Penn State University, and he is still an avid fan of the Nittany Lions football team. Brett attended law school at the Indiana University Mauer School of Law, which he graduated from with honors. Shortly thereafter, Brett returned to Pennsylvania to begin his legal career. The vast majority of Brett’s legal practice focuses on suing creditors, debt collectors, or other entities for violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Through these lawsuits, Brett has been able to obtain millions of dollars in settlements or judgments for his clients. Brett has been able to help shape the landscape of consumer protection litigation. One of his first cases involved whether a consumer who initially provided permission for a creditor to call her was able to subsequently revoke that permission when she started receiving dozens of telephone calls. While the result may seem obvious now, this case ultimately had to be decided by the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and this was the first case which held that permission could ultimately be taken away. Brett was also the driving force in bringing a first-in-the-nation lawsuit regarding the time-limit for a consumer to dispute a credit card charge after a scammer stole credit card information. Again, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals sided with Brett’s client, and issued a decision which could help the hundreds of thousands of people who are victims of credit card fraud each year. When he is not working, Brett can often be found playing golf, participating in competitive strategy games. He also enjoys kayaking, reading, and watching sports.
